Racialized Justice

A poem I wrote about the Israeli-Palestine “conflict”.

“Racialized Justice”

“Why can’t everyone just get along?”

“It’s a two-sided conflict.”

“Stop pointing fingers, you’re biased.”

The common statements of privileged societies,

Supremacist societies,

Societies that racialize justice.

A nation was founded on ethnic cleansing,

The Indigenous are refugees,

Yet you call it two-sided.

A people granted the right to imprison,

They remain untouched,

Yet you call it two-sided.

A people granted the right to steal homes,

Then demolish or inhabit them,

Yet you call it two-sided.

A people granted the right to starve others,

And create ghettos of fear,

Yet you call it two-sided.

Justice is racialized.

It has a skin colour,

A nationality,

A religion,

A language.

Justice is racialized,

Humanity’s heinous crime.

Justice is racialized,

Which is why you call it two-sided.
