Idols

“Idols”

why speak
of past idolatry
when our
idols
are men
who hide
behind privilege
or men
who hide
behind borders
or men
who hide
behind profit
or men
who wear
the face of God

are we
more
enlightened than
past idolaters?

for our idols
are men
who walk
among us,
they were not
born from
wood or stone.

if but
past idolaters
can see
our worship
can see
our denial

for our worship
of men
is far
more intense
far more
entrenched than
the worship
of idols
made from
wood or stone.

  1. Great piece about idols within our own surrounding and not just the outer obvious aspect

This piece reminded me of this video. I still cannot grasp how people enable people like this priest to do such things to them. Blessing technique?

As for the video, I am uncertain why the priest acted like that. I personally have never heard of such a ritual/technique. It’s possible the priest wasn’t even thinking of religion when he acted like that. People do all sorts of unexplained things.
